View looking towards the handsome verandahed bungalow of the Dutch Resident at Batavia, which still stands today at 8 Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan (previously Koningsplain Zuid). From 1945-54 it was the occupied by the Dutch High Commission, since when it has been owned by the municipal government of greater Jakarta. The building is now known as Gedung Balai Kota Jakarta (Jakarta Town Hall Building).
