Group portrait of children, standing in front of a mansion, in costume for a 'dancing performance at Kebun Dalem, the residence of the Majoor China Be Biauw Tjoan in Semarang. The children are dressed up in different clothing styles, however not in the style of the Javanese classical court. Behind the young dancers is a gamelan, an orchestra of traditional instruments' (Steven Wachlin, ' Woodbury and Page: Photographers Java,' KITLV Press, Leiden, 1994), p. 105, where this photograph is reproduced.
