Title:

Sassoon Collection: Photographs of the Bombay Properties of the Sassoon Family 1869. Photographer(s): Unknown, possibly Tandy and Co.

Scope & Content:

Full leather bound album measuring 360 x 430 mm, with gilt tooling and title as above stamped on upper board, edges gilt, containing 44 albumen prints, with lithographed contents page. The prints are mounted one to a page (recto only) within a buff border and with identifying caption label pasted beneath each print. The album is in a uniform binding and format with Photo 1245/2, which records the Poona (Pune) properties belonging to the Sassoon family.

The appearance of the photographic studio of Tandy and Co in print 16 suggests the possibility that this firm may have been responsible for the photographs in the album as a whole.
