CRACHES AND OTHERS, an album- containing thirty photographs including four large calotype views of Basset Downs and grounds, a fine study of Pennlergare House and four views of Charlton House – two showing figures informally posed on the lawns before – all from negatives by Nevil Story Maskelyne, also including a calotype view of ‘High Street Oxford’ by ‘W.H. Fox Talbot’, three other views of Oxford by W. Craches, a study of ‘Carnarvon Castle’ by F. Bedford and several good rural and street scenes around Oxford, salt and albumen prints, the majority from paper negatives ranging in size 6 ½ x 6 ½ inches to 10 x 11 ½ inches, some prints loosely inserted, some captioned in pencil below images, half morocco, worn, oblong folio, 1845 and later.'
