Brown cloth-bound photograph album measuring 265 x 203 mm, containing 48 prints inserted two to a page in window mounts, with handwritten captions beneath each print. The album contains the following inscription on the inside front cover: 'Major-General W. G. L. Beynon C.B. C.I.E. D.S.O. G.O.C. South Wazaristan Field Force, with the best compliments of his friend Baber Shum Shere Jang Bahadur Rana. June and July 1917.'
The album was presented to Major-General Sir William George Lawrence Beynon (1866-1955) by General Baber Shum Shere Jung Bahadur Rana (1888-1960) of the Nepalese Army, and records events during the campaign against the Mahsuds in South Waziristan in June to July 1917. This was the first occasion in which Nepalese troops participated in operations against the tribes of the the North-West Frontier, the men of the Mahindradal and First Nepalese Rifles Regiments being accompanied in the field by General Baber.
