Small full-leather bound album measuring 120 x 143 mm, titled in gilt on front cover as above, containing 20 mounted albumen prints, with letterpress captions pasted beneath. The prints form a series of views of the ghats at Benares (Varanasi) taken from the river.
These photographs come from the collection of Captain Home Peel (1884-1918), India Office 1906-14 and Private Secretary to Edwin Samuel Montagu, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for India during his visit to India 1912-13.
