View from the north looking towards the obelisks of Hatshepsut (on the left) and Tuthmosis I, standing between the great Hypostyle Hall and the sanctuary of the Temple of Amun. Each of these obelisks is the surviving one of a pair. With additional caption note: 'Le plus grand (30 mètres) fut dédié à Amman-Ra, après la mort de Tôthmès Ier (qui l'avait fait tailler), par la reine Amensé, au nom du régent Aménemhé, son second mari. — Le petit (22 mètres), fut élevé par Tôthmès Ier; il porte en outre les légendes de Menephta II et les cartouches de Ramsès IV.'
