- Scope & Content:
-
Genre: Archaeological Photography
Close view of the head and upper torso of the colossal statue of Ramses II, flanking the entrance to his rock-cut temple on the right (ie the third statue from the left), an Egpytian figure posed on the sand beside the head. Among the graffiti (W. Rashleigh, Robt. Pearce, Mary Light), the name of the German traveller and author Prince Hermann Ludwig Heinrich Pückler-Muskau (1785-1871) can be seen on the right breast of Ramses. With additional caption note: 'Portrait de Ramsès (Sésostris). Les cartouches signifient: Soleil directeur de justice approuvé du soleil. Fils du soleil l'aimé d'Ammon Ramsès.'
