Arab sportsmen and cook. Photographer: Frith, Francis
- Scope & Content:
-
Inscription: Inscribed in the negative, 'Frith 162.'
Genre: Portrait Photography

The sportsman in the view is one who has profited by his intercourse with European travellers, and, if we are inclined to find fault with the ancient great-coat which he wears like an Arab shirt, girt round the waist, he deserves praise for having begged or stolen that excellent substitute for an old matchlock which he carries. As for the present result of his skill, little can be said in its favour, as, indeed, the discontented look of our Arab Vattel seems to show...'
