View looking towards the ruins of the temple at Miharrakah, with columns standing among piles of masonry, 'one of the most picturesque remains in Nubia, though never finished … There are no sculptures or paintings, a very rude representation of Isis, sitting under the sacred fig tree, not deserving to be mentioned. The columns are elegant, and they and the screen are of the finest white sandstone.' For other views of these remains, photographed by Maxime Du Camp and Félix Taynard a decade earlier, see shelfmark 1261.d.30, plate 96 (in volume 3 of present binding) and 74/Cup.652.m.2, vol. 2, plate 129, respectively.
