Head-and-shoulders full-face portrait of Bread, an Apsaroke. His biography is given in The North American Indian in volume 4, p.197. 'Born 1863. Mountain Crow; Whistle Water clan. First war experience under Young Wolf Calf, when the party captured a hundred horses from the Piegan. On another occasion, under Wet, he himself captured a horse from the Yanktonai. Married five times; "threw away" four wives; is the father of one child. Never fasted and never achieved an honor.'
