View of Kutenai tipis glimpsed through tall pines on the edge of a lake in Montana, with a canoe drawn up on the shore. 'The scene is a thinly wooded, sandy peninsula at the southern end of Flathead lake. Here the author's camp was pitched in 1909 during some weeks of investigation into the primitive life of the Kutenai.'
