Oval image. Group of five men and women, squatting on grass: 'Gipsies of Berar have no settled place of residence. They are sometimes seen at one village, and sometimes at another; and always under slight erections of reed, and bamboo matting, which they carry around with them. They belong to no caste, being equally disowned by Hindoos, and Mahomedans; and can give no explanation of their origin. They live principally by begging, and juggler exhibitions...'
