The wounded foot. Photographer: Keighley, Alexander
- Scope & Content:
-
Genre: Portrait Photography
Pictorialist study of a young boy, seated on a rock examining his foot. With descriptive letterpress: 'A whole-plate camera, with all its accessories, is apt to become a considerable burden if carried for any distance, and I usually employ a boy to share part of this work. One of my porters was a barefooted, picturesque little urchin, who found the furze bushes on the common over which we passed no little discomfort to his unprotected feet, and several times he was compelled to halt to remove the 'thorn from his foot,' thus suggesting the picture, which illustrates the lines:-
'Shadow and shine is life...
Flower and thorn.
Tennyson.'
