'The photograph is taken from the east, and gives the five columns of the eastern portico still standing, with the caryatid portico near the centre of the picture and the north portico on the right hand. The large tower forming a conspicuous object at the left-hand side is of Venetian origin, and was erected during the Latin conquest' (p. 99).
