Stereoscopic view on the tree-lined river, facing p. 17. 'The spectator is looking down the Conway nearly due north. Before him is a broad, circular expanse, where the foaming Conway loves to lie at perfect rest after its prolonged turmoil amidst rocks and cataracts. On the left of our view is a wooded bank, in the middle of which the white object seen is nothing else than the wall of a road. Above the road is a hill called Craig-glan-Conwy, and beyond are other hills in the direction of Bettws-y-coed...' (p. 34).
