Mounted on p. 25; arched corners. View of waved ice formations on the surface of the glacier: 'In general however the successive waves of the ice-fall are very clearly visible for a long distance below its termination; and the sun gradually wastes their angular outlines until they assume a rounded shape very similar to that of ocean waves, as may be seen in the accompanying illustration, which represents a portion of the surface of the Aar glacier, the wave forms being the result of the grand ice-fall under the Finsteraarhorn' (p. 25).
