Scope & Content:

39 prints of various sizes inserted in the journal of General Marcus Beresford (1800-1876), Madras Army. Beresford was Commandant at Bangalore from 1854-59, the period covered by this journal, and the volume includes portraits of family and friends, studies of Indian types and views in Bangalore.

Most of the work is by an unknown photographer or photographers, apart from print 108 (and possibly others), by Dr John Pearson Nash, and 679, by Dr William George Pritchard.
