View of one face (of four) of a copper shashana: 'One of these grants, that, namely, in the possession of the Brahmans of the Ganj Agrahar village, in the Anantpoor Talook of Shimoga, of which I annex a photograph, has given rise to some discussion, as the date on it would indicate so remote a period as to throw doubts on its genuineness...Since the above was written there has appeared Mr L. Rice's book on 'Mysore inscriptions' (Bangalore, 1879), in which he assigns reasons for concluding the grant was made on 22 April 1194...' For other copies of these prints, see Photo 1000 (15).
