Werge Thomas Collection:Photographs of the Nicholson family and their homes.

Collection of 37 loose prints, the majority carte-de-visite portraits, the majority captioned, some with extensive notes. The collection comprises a series of views of various Irish houses of the Nicholson family and portraits of its various members. The material can broken down as follows:
Prints 1-5 Photographs signed on the mount 'H.J. Nicholson, June 1902', and showing Nicholson homes at Derrycaw (Northern Ireland), Tallbridge (Northern Ireland), Crannagael (Dublin), Stramore (Gilford, Co. Down).
Prints 6-7 Photographs of busts of Sir James Weir Hogg and his wife Mary Claudina, in the possession of Lord Macpherson when the photographs, by Miell & Miell of Boscombe, were taken.
Prints 8-37 Portraits of members of the Nicholson family, mainly cartes-de-visite, by various photographers (see list above). The following sitters are identified: Henry Chamberlain ('an ardent admirer of the great John Nicholson'), Lily Seymour (née Nicholson), Lady Edwardes, Clara Seymour, John Nicholson, Mary Hogg Maxwell (1821-1869, née Nicholson), Clara Nicholson (d. 1874, née Hogg), Henry Meadows Nicholson, Dr Theodore and Mrs Maxwell, A.A. Maxwell, Charles Nicholson, Mrs Elizabeth Gillelan Nicholson, Rev. George Maxwell, memorial tablet to Charles Johnson Nicholson erected in Bunnoo Church 1865.
