Werge Thomas Collection: Miscellaneous and unidentified photographs and sketches.

A miscellaneous collection of 55 prints and postcards (plus two watercolour sketches), mainly unidentified, but presumably collected by Evelyn Werge Thomas in relation to her proposed biographies of Brigadier-General John Nicholson and General Sir James Abbott. The collection comprises the following material:
Two original watercolour sketches, one of a house, titled 'Our Last, R. Pindi, 1894', and one of an animal, titled 'Budge, November 1903.'
Print 1 Group portrait, captioned 'Brighton College, Junior House', c. 1890.
Print 2 Cabinet portrait of Charles Gordon by Adams and Scanlan, Southampton, c. 1880.
Prints 3-28 Miscellaneous small snapshots and postcards, mainly unidentified scenes and portraits, England and Ireland, the majority dating probably from around the 1930s.
Prints 29-44 Interior and exterior views of Normanstone House, Lowestoft, c. 1930s, copyright Lowestoft Borough Council.
Prints 45-50 Photographic copies of portraits, most from originals in the National Portrait Gallery, London. Subjects include Frederick Denison Maurice, and Alfred Lord Tennyson.
Print 51 Portrait of an unidentified young man, c. 1930s, by Milton's Studio, Poona.
Prints 52-53 Two postcards, one of Simla, one of Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling.
Print 54 Unidentified military officer greeting two elderly soldiers at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, May 1930. The two men are identified as Sergeant Brereton, 88th Connaught Rangers, and Private Edward Franklin, 52nd Oxford Light Infantry. Franklin was a Mutiny veteran who served with the Punjab Moveable Column. He died in December 1930. Photograph by the Daily Mirror.
