A single-storeyed European house at Chapra (Bihar) standing in a large grassy compound; a European couple standing at the door.
Inscribed on back: ‘East View of Chuprah.’
Water-mark of 1794.
Pen-and-ink and water-colour; 18.25 by 25 ins. Black rule border.
Note: The inscription was copied from an original mount by the dealer from whom the picture was purchased. The British residential quarter lay to the east side of Chapra where the civil courts and public offices were situated.
