Sword bag

Of painted black cloth with chamois leather lining. This bag would have accommodated a sword of roughly the same size as F1024 and F1025 and may possibly be associated with one of these pattern pieces (a pattern which is known to have been procured complete with “bags”). Swords for officers, warrant officers and senior NCOs were stored in sword bags of this type, in which the soft leather lining ensured that the gilding on the hilt and scabbard would not rub off.
