Ashraf ‘Ali Khan sits cross-legged on a European chair, smoking a hookah which is placed in a European side-table. In the background is the River Ganges with mud-flats and boats, distant trees on the far bank.
Note: Ashraf ‘Ali Khan was a foster-brother of the Mughal emperor Ahmad Shah. He resided at Patna and died there in 1792.
