This volume contains a large number of plants from the East Indies. The first 23 ff. and ff. 27-68 were probably painted by Chinese artists in Malaya. ff. 47-68, some with 'Penang,' but all have the letter ‘H.’ standing for William Hunter (1755-1812), who commissioned and collected such drawings when Superintending Surgeon in Java 1811-12 (for other such drawings, see the Yu-Chee Cheong catalogue, ‘Exploring the East Indies’, nos. 23-32). f.81, 'Mysore'; f.87, 'From Nepal'; f.89, 'From Sumatra'.
