‘A Male Nyl Ghy caught in the Jungle near Muttra when about four Days Old in July 1809 and in April 1812 sent from Meerut to Calcutta to go on board the Marquis Wellesley East Indiaman Captain Le Blanc for His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent.’
Note: The ‘Marquis Wellesley’ under Captain Charles Le Blanc went out in the 1810-11 season to Ceylon and Bengal. On the return journey she sank in Bombay harbour on 16th April 1813. The crew was saved but the fate of this and the next nilgau is unknown.
