Death’s kingdom, illustrating punishments for the bad and rewards for the good. Above, Death, holding a club, and reading from his book of punishments, sentences a man (who had struck his maternal uncle) to be beaten; a demon produces the man before Death; a second demon administers the beating. Above them, the heads of three evil doers who have been executed for their crimes. Below two lines of richly decorated and palatial rooms in which the kind and good, both men and women, sit at case on stools.
