Scroll painting of the Baha festival. - villagers on their way to the sacred grove
- Scope & Content:
-
The Baha festival. Four villagers, including the ‘naeke’ (priest) and ‘kudam naeke’ (field priest), carrying a dagger, winnowing fan, pot and a basket, on their way to the sacred grove. Below, the priest kneeling under a tree beside an up-fumed battle-axe and holding a chicken about to be sacrificed to Maran Buru, Jaher Era and Moreko Turuiko (the Five-Six), behind him the field priest standing with a second chicken.
Note: Although the second of the two ‘majestic’figures in Add.Or.3419 must be identified as Sin Cando, it is ‘the Five-Six’ who are worshipped along with Maran Buru and Jaher Era in the Jaher (sacred grove) on the occasion of the Baha festival.
