- Title:

The Jagannatha trio shown with human resemblances and varied stances.
- Scope & Content:
-
Similar to above but both main figures with legs wide apart, wearing short drawers, their left hands resting on their thighs, their right hands on their bellies. Wing-like wooden ‘arms’ sprout from behind their shoulders. Subhadra peeps appealingly up from between them. The Sudarsana Cakra makes a wispy appearance on the right.
225 by 275 mm.
Note: In this and certain other paintings there is a striking resemblance in pose and breadth to stone images of Bir Nath, patron godling of the Kishnaut Ahirs of Shahabad and Palamau districts, Bihar and Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh. Like Jagannatha and Sri Nathji, Bir Nath is regarded as a form of Krishna.
