The Empress Eugenie (1826~1920), 1855
Eugenie is in a court dress of white silk trimmed with lace, with a train of green velvet bordered with gold. She wears the black and white ribbon of the order of Malta, the jewel of which is suspended at her side. Upon her head is a coronet, while a crown is placed upon a table by her side. The floor, as in the companion picture, is carpeted in red, while the crimson hangings are drawn aside to show the landscape beyond.
