Panoramic view of Mandu with Rupmati’s pavilion on the right. ‘Maandoo. J. Abbott 1835 from Roop Muttie’s Kiosk’. On original mount: ‘Ruins of Maandoo. Capital of the quondam Kingdom of Malwa. From nature by Maj. Genl. James Abbott. This kiosk, built by Baz Bhadoor, last King of Maandoo, to enable the lovely Roop Muttie to look upon her distant home on the Nurbudda, was not sketched on the spot but from memory only. The rest of the sketch may be trusted. J. Abbott’.
