Inscribed: ‘N.’ ‘Easterly View of the Village Pagodas and adjacent Mountain Mahabalipoorum from an Original sketch by Mr Braddock. J. Gantz’.
Note: John Braddock was born in London, arriving in India in August 1813 to work in the Madras Powder Mills until the expiry of his contract in August 1818. He joined Griffiths, Cook & Co. as Commission Warehouse-Keeper and Auctioneer until appointed Examiner in the Accountant General’s office in April 1820. No further reference to him has been found after 1825.
