‘Moung Yué. Myoke of Meerday.’
MYOKE of the frontier station depot of Meaday. This old man bears the soubriquet of ‘‘the British Lion’,’ from some resemblance which it is fancied he bears to the well known and honoured Heraldic King of Quadrupeds. He joined the British at commencement of the war, and was presented by Lord Dalhousie with a gold chain, which the old gentleman wore with no small amount of gratification.
