Note: Presumably a tributary of the river Bhima near Sholapur, Bombay. On the reverse is part of a letter addressed to the Adjutant, Bombay Sappers and Miners, signed: ‘John Le Mesurier, Lt. Engineers’. The drawing must date from early 1856 during his brief period at Poona.

On reverse a description by Le Mesurier of the temporary bridge erected at the head of Mithrau Canal. The drawing shows the structure after it gave way in 1858. Beginning on the southern border of Khairpur State the canal was started in 1857 and completed in 1879.
