A scrap-book (265 pages) containing 86 drawings and 4 lithographs. 1839 to c.1867. The sketches relate to Strachey's early years in W. India, the making of the Jumna and Ganges Canals and holidays spent in the Nilgiri Hills, the Himalayas, Scotland and Switzerland. A few drawings relate to the 1848 and 1849 expeditions to Tibet, and a few to Sind.
The lithographs are Plate II and VIII of Sir Richard Strachey's unpublished ‘The Physical Geography of the Himalayas’.
