Gold tie-pin in a red presentation box, 1905.

A gold tie pin bearing the Prince of Wales' emblem. The pin is inside its original red leatherpresentation box. Made by 'Clark', 33 New Bond Street, London, probably in 1905.
This object was received along with the official weekly diaries of Edwin William Bethune Whiting (1862-1932). Whiting was with the Indian Police in Burma from 1886 to 1910. The diaries include correspondence regarding arrangements for the Prince Of Wales' hunting trip to Paunglin Lake in 1905-6, when the Prince presented this tie pin to Whiting.
The Edwin William Bethune Whiting papers (Mss Eur D1209) are held with the British Library's India Office Private Papers. The tie pin was trasferred to Prints and Drawings in 2012.
