Seventy-six folios in pencil, pen-and-ink and water-colour, bound in a volume measuring 15 by 10.5 inches.
Sixty-nine ff. depict 2 mammals, 24 birds, 8 reptilia, 28 insects, 6 arthropods, while 7 ff. (70-76) depict a miscellaneous group including 1 mollusc, 2 echinoderms, 1 amphibia, 1 reptilia, 1 mammal and 1 fish.
On f.74v there is a sketch in water-colour of a rock temple at Salsette inscribed 'Pagode taillée dans le Roc à Salcette'. This drawing was probably made when de Jonville passed through Bombay on his way to Ceylon in 1798. The descriptions of the mammals occur amongst the notes on 'Quadrupedes' pp.291-300, the birds amongst those on 'Oiseaux' pp.307-38, the reptiles amongst those on 'Reptiles' pp.343-56 and the insects amongst those on 'Insectes', pp.363-494.
