Book 16. 77 facsimiles (138 folios) of inscriptions from S. India and drawings of copper-plates to illustrate various S. Indian scripts. 1794-1809.
Each picture is inscribed with a red number and sometimes a description. Drawings by MacKenzie's draftsmen J. Gould, C. Ignatio, J. Newman, and B. Sexton. Some of these drawings connect with research by Mackenzie’s contemporaries such as Francis Whyte Ellis, William Brown and Henry Colebrooke.

f.122v Inscribed: The opposite grant is in the Tamil language & the Grantham Character, the whole of the Sanscrit & compound letters being omitted – the form of the Characters is unique for example the common Grantham CA is [ ] and in this inscription it is [ ] The purport is the description of the bounds of an Agraharam.

Remarks – This plate is thin & dark not very well polished nor worn by age – The Persian Characters in the seal & the straight lines by which the Characters were traced out give it a Modern appearance – The plan in the 2nd page renders it more curious. The manner of inserting the dates by the numeral letters at full length is singular & the only instance yet come under notices. It would appear to belong to the same Agraharum that was established by Cholla Rajah mentioned in No. [ ] and No.[ ]. The inscription within the Oval on Page 1 in Tellinga Characters signifies Tri-Shankra Shola Maha Arazoo below which are 8 lines in Grundum & lines below them marking them out are perceptible.
