View looking along the street towards the palace on the hillside behind: 'This palace is considered in Rajpootana to be surpassed in picturesque beauty by no other. Various parts of it have been added by successive sovereigns, whose names they bear, but the whole is in perfect harmony. The distinguishing feature in the architecture is the bold and richly carved balconies which project from the walls.'
