The Mo-chu River. Photographer: White, John Claude
- Scope & Content:
-
Genre: Landscape Photography
View looking upriver towards a bridge. 'The river flows down from Tibet through Chumbi and Bhutan to the plains of Bengal, and comes out near Madari Hat on the Dooars Railway in the plains. A survey has been made of this route, and if a road be made from a point in the Bengal Dooars direct to Chumbi along the course of the Mo-chu it will, perhaps, become the most important trade route between India and Tibet, as it avoids the lofty passes between Sikhim and Chumbi.'
