Street scene during the O Matsuri festival at Yokohama: 'These two illustrations were taken instantaneously. The upper one shews the crowd which occupied the streets, and the general appearance of the houses. The latter all had lanterns hung in front of them, and such as had upper floors had them thrown quite open, so that all the household and any friends who might call might see what was going on in the streets.' (p. 3).
