Group portrait of Japanese youths, in western dress, photographed on the same occasion as print 2, at the Mio-kioji Temple near Yokohama: 'A number of youths, all of the class entitled to wear two swords, all belonging to Prince Satsuma. They are learning foreign music, under the tuition of Mr. Fenton, the band-master of H.M. 1st batt. 10th Regiment ... The master asked our artist to take a picture of the band, and whilst he did so, we gathered the information that these youths, about thirty in number, are living in this temple and in houses immediately in its neighbourhood, and receiving instruction twice a day from Mr. Fenton ...' (p. 5).
