Photomicrograph of the larva of the silkmoth Bombyx pini, with descriptive on pp. 26-27 text by Ernst Heger [Heeger], who was also presumably responsible for the photograph. A similar photograph of the same specimen also appears in Auer’s ‘Der Polygraphische Apparat’ (Vienna, 1853), BL pressmark RF.2004.a.37. It is likely that the present photograph was also taken around the same time.
