-
Inscription: Signed in the plate, 'P. H. Emerson.'
Genre: Landscape Photography
View looking across the stretch of water towards farm buildings silhouetted against the sky on the far bank: 'Our second plate represents a group of farm buildings nestling away beyond the reed. At the staithe is moored a wherry, which for years has done no service save to harbour wood-lice and spiders. The grey day-lighting adds to the beauty of the reflections, which are here and there streaked with bright ripple-marks. In the foreground the lilies complete the composition, and are seen dimly and indistinctly as we look over them to the picture—the farm-buildings...' (p. 80).
