Letters written to Governor General Charles Canning, primarily relating to military issues, but also in relation to appointments and patronage for individuals. Includes information pertaining to army reform, and the discontent amongst European Troops as a result of the Proclamation of Nov 1858, the so-called 'White Mutiny'. Letters are numbered 1-97 with index and précis of letters, continued in Mss Eur F699/1/1/3/12. NB: There are two letters numbered 41a.
