Dispute between Colonel Ramsay and Captain Byers

Papers regarding the dispute between Colonel Ramsay, Resident at Nepal, and Captain Byers, formerly Assistant Resident, Nepal. An enclosed memorandum from [Cecil Beadon?] states that the papers ‘relating to the dispute between the latter [Byers] and Lord Oldfield have been submitted to the Governor General on 29 January and 1 February 1859 and are still out'.
Mainly consists of: correspondence of Lewin Bentham Bowring, Private Secretary to the Governor General, with Byers and Ramsay; and correspondence between G.F. Edmonstone, Secretary to the Government of India Foreign Department with the Governor General, Allahabad, and Ramsay.
Also includes a letter from Edmonstone to Lieutenant Colonel MacAndrew, Military Secretary, Goorka Force, in which it is stated that the dispute related to ‘the non-receipt by [Ramsay] of regular intelligence from the Goorkha [Gurkha] Camp’ from Byers.
