Alphabetical index to the three registers of letters and memoranda received and sent by the Military Secretary to the Governor General. The registers are indexed alphabetically by the surnames of civil correspondents, the surnames of military correspondents, and subjects of the correspondence (under each letter of the alphabet, the pages are divided into three columns, one column for each of the above three categories, and each of the three registers is indexed in turn under each letter). The numbers of the relevant letters or memoranda in the register volumes are listed next to each entry in the index.
The entries do not follow in alphabetical order under each letter of the alphabet, rather they follow in the order of the numbers of the letters or memoranda in the register volumes.
