Letters from Michael Bakewell (August-September 1954), together with two letters (15 August and [September]) in return from Joan Rowlands [Bakewell] to Michael Bakewell. The sequence also includes a letter from Michael Bakewell to 'H' [?Harry Guest] dated 'Wednesday 8th' [September 1954].
- 10 August 1954 (franking date). Oxford, undated (3 sheets, with envelope), addressed to Hazel Grove, Stockport.
- 11 August 1954 (franking date). Oxford, 'Wed.' (3 sheets, with envelope), addressed to Hazel Grove.
- 13 August 1954 (franking date). Oxford, undated (4 sheets, with envelope), addressed to Hazel Grove. (Small tear at left margin of sheets 2-4.)
- 15 August 1954 (franking date, Stockport). 'Sunday', Joan to Michael (3 sheets, with envelope), addressed to Oxford.
- 16 August 1954 (franking date, Oxford). Undated letter (3 sheets, with envelope), addressed to Hazel Grove.
- 18 August 1954 (franking date, Oxford). Undated letter (4 sheets, with envelope), addressed to Hazel Grove.
- [7 or 8 September 1954]. Undated letter (7 sheets, red ink) preceded by autograph poem (2 sheets, red ink). Written in 'the waiting Room at Rugby'. No envelope.
- 8 September 1954 (franking date, Birmingham). Undated letter (2 sheets, red ink, with envelope), addressed to Hazel Grove. Suitcase lost by Railways 'en route from Oxford'. Has an interview with the BBC 'this Friday'.
- 'Wednesday 8th [September 1954]. Letter (4 sheets) from Michael Bakewell to 'H' (perhaps Harry Guest). Refers to the lost suitcase, and describes his holiday with Joan in Venice. 'I keep telling people how beautiful Venice is, but I know that most of the time I am thinking of how lovely Joan was as I walked around with her.' No envelope. (The letter is perhaps a draft or was not posted.)
