In this diary Sheena mainly spends her time between ‘The Minesweepers Association’ office, ‘The Soldiers' and Sailors' Families Association’ and practicing and teaching music. She still travels about Britain considerably, spending nights in: Woolton, Liverpool; Burnham Beeches, Buckinghamshire; Warsash, Hampshire; Kingswood, Gloucestershire; Ugley, Essex; Worcester; Isle of Arran; Walkerburn, Scottish Borders; Loch Goil, Scotland; Fairlie, Scotland; Witley, Surrey; Holmwood, Surrey; Easton Grey, Wiltshire; Notting; Ayr, Scotland; London.
Sheena infrequently mentions the War itself, other than a brief reference to a Zeppelin raid in January, the sinking of the ‘Lusitania’ in May and noting injured or killed friends. Her brother Charles, also known as Charlie, comes home on leave in February but is reported killed in May. Whilst in London in October, Sheena also starts working at a Y.M.C.A. canteen and goes to see some trenches that have been dug by the Royal Engineers. Her diaries continue to record her social engagements, plays, concerts and shopping trips. Sheena also mentions war work carried out by her other female friends.
Significant people mentioned: Phyllis Bethell, 24th November; Joan Howson, throughout the diary; Helen Baird, 16th July; Military personnel and titled women are also frequently mentioned throughout the diary.
