Nos. 1-11 are supposed to have been composed at Hanover in 1710-1712. They are included, but in a different order, in the first series published by the Händel-Gesellschaft. No. 12 is there replaced by 'Langue, geme' (no. 11); it is also excluded from the second series published by the same society. The autograph of it is at Buckingham Palace, where a transcript of part of it (now Add MS 31573, f. 53b) was made by Michael Rophino Lacy (see also Add MS 31555 and 31573).
